Hello Blog! Today we are researching about the horror genre. The horror genre mainly use POV shots, handheld angles, Dutch angles, tracking shots, and extreme close ups. Horror genre likes the mis-en-scene to be in dark, rural, deserted locations that are isolated and mainly abandoned. It also uses all types of weapons, mainly hand held weapons that are not projectiles, as well as having certain super natural features. These features can be graveyards, haunted houses, or even isolated castles.
Horror uses lots of special effects, shot placements, and transitions, which can be cutting or just regular fade in. For sound, it uses mainly stringed instruments, but also use breathing, synthesizers, monsters vocals, footsteps, ghost sounds, stabbing, slashing, or any flesh wound sounds. Insidious and Annabelle are examples of horror genre movies. I like the appeal and fright of horror, it brings a rush of adrenaline. I do not like how horror can get repetitive.
